1. Overview
Tabular (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is a spreadsheet cleanup tool operated by usetabular.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our service. By using Tabular, you agree to the practices described here.
2. Information We Collect
- Account information: When you sign in with Google or a magic link, we collect your email address and display name to create your account.
- Uploaded files: CSV and XLSX files you upload are stored temporarily on our servers (Amazon S3) solely to perform the processing you request. Files are automatically and permanently deleted after 24 hours.
- Usage data: We track the number of jobs processed and bytes processed per billing period to enforce plan limits. We do not read the contents of your files for any purpose other than performing the operation you requested.
- Payment information: Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your credit card details. Stripe may collect billing information as described in their privacy policy.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To authenticate you and maintain your account session
- To process the files you upload and return results to you
- To enforce plan limits and manage your subscription
- To send transactional emails such as magic link sign-in emails
- To improve the reliability and performance of the service
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your uploaded file data for training, analytics, or any purpose beyond processing your request.
4. Data Retention
Uploaded files (input and output) are automatically deleted from our storage after 24 hours. Download links expire after 1 hour. Account information is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing us at hello@usetabular.com.
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate Tabular:
- Amazon S3 — temporary file storage
- Stripe — payment processing and subscription management
- Google OAuth — optional sign-in with Google
- Resend — transactional email delivery
- Heroku — application hosting and infrastructure
Each of these services has their own privacy policy governing how they handle data.
6. Cookies and Sessions
We use session cookies to keep you signed in. These are essential for the service to function and cannot be disabled while using Tabular. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.
7. Security
Files are stored in private S3 buckets and accessed only via short-lived signed URLs. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. We enforce rate limiting to prevent abuse. Despite these measures, no system is completely secure — please do not upload files containing sensitive personal information such as passwords, social security numbers, or financial account credentials.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@usetabular.com. If you are located in the EU or UK, you may also have rights under GDPR, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
